Join Fruits of the Forager for an affordable & fun-filled Mushroom Foray, where we'll explore the wild and wonderful world of mushrooms together!

Join us for an exciting adventure with fellow enthusiasts and explore the great outdoors at our Mushroom Foray event! 

This in-person event is perfect for nature lovers and aspiring mycologists. With expert guides, you'll learn how to identify different mushroom species and discover their unique characteristics. 

Don't miss this opportunity to delve into the mysterious realm of fungi. 

Learn about the mushrooms growing in the Surrey Hills with expert mycologist Jim Storrar.

Jim has a life long passion for fungi, he has worked as a ranger in Surrey for over 35 years. During that time he has taught lots of people all about fungi, including a young Ray Mears, university students, scouts and fungus enthusiasts.

Jim will lead our mushroom walk through stunning woodland and into the wonderful world of fungi.

He will not only guide you on which mushrooms are poisonous and which one’s are safe to eat, he will also tech you how to identify mushrooms and give you the skills you will need to identify mushrooms independently in the future.

Emily will also be on hand who specialises in edible, poisonous and medicinal mushrooms.

Kids under 16 come for free.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

If you would like to join a walk and it has sold out please get in touch as we can often fit in a couple of extras.

Location will be roughly 10 miles from Guildford and will be emailed to the attendees the day before the event.

Medicinal Mushroom Workshop

Join Emily for this exciting opportunity to learn about the benefits of Medicinal Mushrooms and have a hands on learning experience.

We will be discussing different ways you can grow your own medicinal mushrooms at home whilst gaining knowledge on how to make your own Mushroom tinctures & Mushroom extract powders.

Together we will inoculate hardwood logs with Turkey Tail dowels for everyone to take away & grow at home.

We will also be discussing mushrooms tinctures and you can choose what Mushroom Tincture you wish to work with and take home.

Tinctures: Lions mane, Reishi, Turkey tail or Chaga mushroom.

Guided foraging walks

Join us for a guided foraging walk in Surrey or Sussex where you will learn all about the wild food that surrounds us. 

Using your senses, you will identify, smell and taste plants as you learn all about their ID features and culinary uses.

Fungus Forays

Join Jim and Emily in the Autumn months to learn how mushrooms play a key role in keeping the forest alive. What mushrooms are deadly and which ones are safe to eat. Jim is an expert on all things in the mycology field and Emily specialises in edible, poisonous and medicinal mushrooms and will both be on hand and full of suggestions for culinary uses of the edible mushrooms we find. We will also explain the benefits and how to process any medicinal mushrooms we may come across.
